Professional Bio
Weimiao Zhou studies interpersonal communication within multifaceted family systems. Her work investigates how siblings shape one another through processes such as socialization, support, and comparison. A second line of her research examines how families communicate about sensitive topics, including divorce and repartnering, parental differential treatment, and youth risk-taking behaviors. She employs advanced quantitative and mixed methods to analyze data from individuals, dyads, and family systems. Professor Zhou teaches courses on Interpersonal Communication (CAS 203) and Family Communication Theory and Research (CAS 405).
