Professional Bio

JunHyung Han is a researcher passionate about understanding the dyadic nature of interpersonal influence—how messages exchanged between two people mutually shape meaning, behavior, and relationships. His work aims to bridge message production and processing theories, focusing on advice and persuasion in complex goal-driven situations, both in human–human and human–AI contexts. In his master’s program, he wrote papers on 1) extending Advice Response Theory into an AI advice context, 2) mutual persuasion in the patient–provider context, and 3) resilience and social support in the context of chronic stressors. In his Ph.D. program at Penn State, he will focus on developing a comprehensive dyadic theory of interpersonal influence, integrating multiple-goals approaches, social support theories, and turn-by-turn analyses to explore how message features and relational contexts shape outcomes, particularly in health and chronic stress contexts.
