Elizabeth “Betsy” Mills is a Lecturer of Communication Arts and Sciences at Penn State, where she has been teaching in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences since 2010. She teaches Effective Speech (CAS 100A and 100B) in multiple formats, including in-residence, online, and evening courses at both the University Park and Lewistown campuses. Her teaching interests center on making her classroom a welcoming and productive space for Continuing Education students, reaching students across the globe through the World Campus, and raising students’ sense of civic duty both during the semester and beyond it. She also serves as an affiliate member on the Penn State President’s Commission for LGBT Equity and volunteers with Centre County Big Brothers/Big Sisters.  Outside of the classroom, Betsy enjoys keeping up on local and national politics, playing award-winning board games, traveling in the U.S. and abroad, gardening vegetables and succulent plants, and following Indianapolis Colts football.
