B. Vivian Book to Feature in Oxford University Press

CAS Professor Bradford Vivian’s book, Campus Misinformation: The Real Threat to Higher Education, is featured in an upcoming Oxford University Press campaign on the theme of “Education as Empowerment.” The book examines how pundits and politicians manufactured the campus free speech crisis and created a genuine challenge to academic freedom in the process.

A sample chapter, titled “First Amendment Hardball,” is now free and available online for those interested in cynical and anti-democratic appeals to free speech in both higher education and contemporary democratic societies. You can find the chapter here: https://academic.oup.com/book/44611/chapter/378595228

In addition, Vivian has recorded several podcast interviews about Campus Misinformation; those interviews and other media mentions are stored on the book’s website: https://www.campusmisinformationbook.net/. The author hopes these resources might be useful for anyone interested in current debates over free speech on college campuses and the importance of academic freedom to democratic society.
