Professional Bio

Kathy Kile is a communication lecturer who integrates her theatrical training and acting experience into her public speaking instruction.  Kathy’s teaching techniques support three main learning objectives that she sets for her speech classroom: (1) to create an enjoyable and imaginative classroom environment, (2) to train students to develop critical thinking skills that are clear, rational and supported with evidence, and (3) to assist students in developing rhetorical skills necessary to become excellent communicators.  She implements these objectives by equipping students with a framework for speech content development and by creating multiple opportunities in the classroom to practice speaking in public.  Kathy is currently teaching CAS 100 (Effective Speech).
