Professional Bio

Many years ago, while editor of a gambling magazine, Brent realized that the best part of his job was helping college interns develop as communicators. He then left the publication, earned a master’s degree and landed a teaching position at Saint Francis University.

Brent went on to become an associate professor of Communication and occasional administrator at SFU while he and his late wife, Ellen, raised five sensational children.

He is delighted to return to the classrooms of University Park after teaching CAS100 remotely during the 2020-21 academic year.

Having taken part in countless public meetings and events as a low-level elected official (school director) and a failed Congressional candidate (it wasn’t even close), Brent has a keen appreciation for the CAS100 mission and tries to help every student develop into a confident, capable and willing participant in public discourse.
