Professional Bio
Youzhen Su is a Ph.D. candidate whose research advances theories of persuasion and social influence and their application to address health and environmental issues. Her two lines of inquiry focus on normative influence, with special attention to contradictory normative messages, and risk messages in technology-mediated settings.
Her research has been published in journals such as Human Communication Research, Health Communication, and Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly.
At Penn State, Youzhen teaches Persuasion (CAS 220) and Effective Speech (CAS 100: Public Speaking), and serves as a teaching assistant for courses such as Computer-Mediated Communication (CAS 283), Communication Theory (CAS 303), Communication Methods (CAS 304), and Persuasion and Propaganda (CAS 175N).
