Professional Bio
Sergio Peña studies the rhetorical construction of narratives surrounding major moments of civil unrest in contemporary U.S society to understand their effects on public memory, discourse, and consciousness. Specifically, Sergio is interested in researching the role of the rhetoric of resistance to social change and progress within interpersonal and media narratives, and how those narratives impact material and social progress for marginalized communities, such as communities of color.
