Youzhen Su is interested in persuasion, health communication, and computer-mediated communication. She studies the role of psychological processes and social influence in shaping risk perception and behavioral changes in the context of health and well-being. Her recent research examines how exposure to persuasive messages and their interaction with cognitive and emotional factors influence individual behavioral outcomes, such as anti-smoking. Her research also has examined human response to health and environmental risk in computer-mediated settings. Methodologically, she employs web mining, machine learning, and social network analysis to explore emerging issues, including online social support and public discussion regarding health and environmental topics on social media. Youzhen’s work has been published in the journals of Health Communication and Violence Against Women.
