Professional Bio

Yuwei Li is a communication scientist interested in the psychological and conversational dynamics of interpersonal relationships. Specifically, his work examines the role of cognition (such as goals) in the production, processing, and evaluation of messages in a wide range of social interactions, such as conflict, support, interpersonal influence, and provider-patient consultations. He is also interested in advancing and disseminating quantitative methods. He has worked as an assistant trainer at the 2022 CAS summer symposium on the dynamic dyadic systems analysis of conversational data, and has written methods tutorials (available on his personal site and the Longitudinal Human Analytics Made Accessible website). His work has appeared in Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Journal of Language and Social Psychology, and Health Communication. At Penn State, Yuwei has taught courses on persuasion and social influence, conflict resolution, and public speaking.
