Jennifer Lawer received her Doctor of Philosophy in Conflict Resolution Studies from Nova Southeastern University in 2021. Areas of interest includes family conflict studies, social gerontology, culture, negotiation, and emotional intelligence. Other research interests include experiential education for Conflict Resolution students as part of Global Practicum curriculum's scholarship of engagement. Her Global Practicum research in Ecuador explored conflict among indigenous groups in the Amazon, environmental/business conflict in the Andes mountains, and aging related conflicts in local villages. Dr. Lawer's dissertation explored sibling conflict and caregiving for aging parents, highlighting challenges of difficult family relationships. Her master's thesis was on food and family dining habits in northern and southern Italy. Dr. Lawer's international experience includes her prior work with Duquesne University's Italian campus program assisting students studying abroad in Rome. She is thrilled to join the department and hopes to enrich student learning through excellent teaching, creative insight and good humor.
