Ismael Quiñones was born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, México. His research has focused on how technology rhetorically alters the role of attention, time, and ideology. He did his thesis on memes, where he explored the circulation of rhetorical texts in a fragmented networked environment. More recently, Ismael has turned his understanding of memes to understand more broadly the role of circulation in the development of history. He is currently analyzing the development of the PRI, the main political party in power in Mexico from 1929 to 2000, in the circulation of memetic arguments. He has published in Communication Education and has an upcoming book chapter in the origins of the PRI. Ismael currently teaches CAS100A at Penn State.
