Students recognized with awards from the Center for Democratic Deliberation

CELEBRATIONS!

PhD student Jeffry Nagel and CAS major and CIVCM minor Camryn Wilson were recently recognized with awards from the Center for Democratic Deliberation.  Jeff received the Burke Prize in Rhetoric, which recognizes work by a graduate student on the subject of rhetoric. His essay focused on the congressional testimony of gay rights activist Franklin Kameny in 1963 as an exemplar of embodied silence. Cami received the Student Engagement Award, which acknowledges significant efforts to enhance civic engagement and public discourse about important issues. Her work in the past year has advanced the  Campus Vote Project.
