PhD student selected by the College of Liberal Arts for Research and Graduate Studies Dissertation Award

CELEBRATIONS!

PhD student Haley Schneider has been selected by the College of the Liberal Arts to receive a Research and Graduate Studies Dissertation Award. This highly competitive award will provide Haley with research funds to support her work on her dissertation in the next year. In that dissertation, Haley will examine how various stakeholders in urban planning imagine, implement, and measure progress toward a more sustainable future in Philadelphia. She proposes the concept of public futures, or the ways in which members of a community imagine their collective future, as a way to analyze policy decisions in urban planning. Haley’s broader interest is in how the rhetoric of public futures could be better used to address structural injustices in the present.

Congratulations, Haley!
