PhD alumna winner of the Abby Prestin Dissertation of the Year Award

PhD Alumna Youllee Kim, an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Denver, has been selected by the Health Communication Divisions of ICA and NCA as this year’s winner of the Abby Prestin Dissertation of the Year Award. Her dissertation titled “Health Activism: Investigating the Role of Hope and Neighborhood-Related Perceptions in Solving Neighborhood Health Issues” was described by the selection committee as “truly impressive” and “a tremendous representation of the fantastic work that ICA/NCA Health Communication scholars are producing.” CAS Professor Rachel Smith served as Dr. Kim’s advisor during her course of study.
