Faculty Spotlight: Associate Professor Wilson concludes term as President of the RSA

FACULTY SPOTLIGHT

The Department applauds our colleague, Kirt Wilson, Associate Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences and African American Studies, as he concludes his term as President of the Rhetoric Society of America (RSA). Professor Wilson’s leadership came at a critical time in the association’s history. Since widespread calls to address bias and exclusion in the communication discipline erupted last summer and continuing through the cancellation of the RSA conference in May due to COVID-19, Professor Wilson has been a constant and powerful force for good. Those of us in CAS have seen the hard work he has done, behind the scenes, whether it is to lead RSA to a financially solvent position or to bring people together and encourage ethical action. His final remarks as President of RSA demonstrate yet again his wisdom and how fortunate we are to have his voice in our discipline. Thank you, Kirt, for all you do, for all you are, and for sharing yourself with our department and our discipline.
