Dr. Rachel Smith Named LA Professor of CAS

The Department congratulates Professor Rachel Smith, who has been named Liberal Arts Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences. This title, conferred by the College of the Liberal Arts, recognizes faculty at the rank of professor who have sustained a record of significant achievement. Professor Smith, who conducts research on social influence and the diffusion of persuasive health messages, has certainly met that bar. Smith has amassed an impressive record of external funding from entities including the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Gates Foundation, the National Institutes for Health, and the World Health Organization; she publishes her research in the top journals for communication and health communication scholarship; and she has received numerous awards for her research and service through scholarship. Well done, Rachel!!
