CAS Alumni Stories

Jonah Kim (BA in CAS & BS in PLSC, 2018), worked last year as Finance Assistant on the successful electoral campaign of Rep. Elaine Luria in Virginia's 2nd Congressional District. Rep. Luria is a Navy veteran and small-business owner, precisely the kind of candidate Jonah said he dreamed of working for after he graduated. Asked his thoughts and feelings after the campaign, Jonah said, "I'm proud of the team I worked with, and I'm proud of the grassroots campaign that we ran. We were able to contribute to the highest voter turnout a midterm election Virginia's 2nd Congressional District has ever seen. While knocking on doors that final week I cannot even remember the number of people I talked to who said they were voting for the first time ever. So again I would say I feel proud." Jonah is now working as a Staff Assistant in Rep. Luria's Washington, D.C. office. "I am learning about all the different congressional rules, procedures, and administrative duties that congressional staff are responsible for," he said. photo: Rep.
