Assistant Professor selected as top paper by WSCA

CELEBRATIONS!!

An essay by Joshua Barnett, Assistant Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences, has been selected as the top paper by the Western States Communication Association’s (WSCA) Environmental Communication Interest Group. In this paper, “Rhetorical Ecologies of Violent Care,” Professor Barnett reflects on the rhetoric of “violent care,” which calls for the protection of one species, habitat, or ecosystem through acts of violence against others. To elaborate his thesis, Professor Barnett considers the effort to eradicate the spotted laternfly in the state of Pennsylvania. Professor Barnett will present his work at the WSCA conference in Portland, OR, in February.

Congratulations, Joshua!
