Alumni News: PhD Alumni have chapters in recent volume examining political, social, and philosophical issues

ALUMNI NEWS:

PhD Alumni Jeremy Cox, Tiara Good, and Brad Serber each have chapters in a recent volume examining the challenges of “rhetorically tacking the multiple political, social, and philosophical issues at state when a collective issues an official apology to a group of victims.” Dr. Serber’s contribution is “’It May Seem Strange’: When Presidents Apologize for Genocide.”  Dr’s Cox and Good collaborated on “Exceptional Histories and Obscure Gestures: The United States Government’s Official Apology to Native Peoples.” As a set, the chapters raise questions about whether collective expressions of remorse are possible, credible, or meaningful in the face of profound wrongdoing, while they shed light on this important and complex rhetorical phenomenon. Well done Jeremy, Tiara, and Brad!
