PhD alumna Lindsey S. Aloia was awarded tenure and promoted to Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Arkansas. Lindsey's research focuses on the causes and consequences of verbal aggression in interpersonal associations, with a particular emphasis on how qualities of interpersonal interactions and communicators influence the use of and reactions to verbally aggressive experiences. Lindsey’s research has been funded by the Arkansas Biosciences Institute, the Academic Initiative of the Southeastern Conference, the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, and the National Science Foundation. Lindsey's research has also been recognized within the discipline; most recently, she received the Janice Hocker Rushing Early Career Award form the Southern States Communication Association and the Rose B. Johnson Article Award from the Southern Communication Journal.
