Sparks Professor Mary Stuckey Honored with an Outstanding Mentor Award

At its business meeting in November, the American Society for the History of Rhetoric awarded Sparks Professor Mary Stuckey with the Outstanding Mentor Award for her years of mentorship in the fields of rhetorical studies and public address. Chair of the Awards Committee, Dr. Ben Crosby, noted that Dr. Stuckey is a superior mentor because, in part, she has a proactive, natural way of taking the work of young rhetoricians seriously. One individual who supported Dr. Stuckey’s nomination wrote: “I wouldn’t have the career I do without her influence. She is the reason, in many respects, for the amount of success I have had.” CAS students and faculty have benefited greatly from Professor Stuckey’s willingness to listen, advise, and champion our work. We know first hand what a great mentor she is. Congratulations Mary!
