CAS 597 denotes courses on Special Topics that are not always offered in a steady rotation as graduate seminars. Faculty develop courses in areas of special interest that allow students to explore topics not normally covered as part of our graduate catalog. Several courses that are now part of the permanent CAS graduate catalog began as Special Topics courses.

Some of these CAS 597 courses have been topical variations on courses in the permanent graduate catalog, but others have provided unique investigations into burgeoning issues important to communication and rhetorical scholarship.

See below for the list of recent Special Topics courses in Rhetoric. Click on the links in this page for more specific information on a particular course. Please inform the Director of Graduate Studies if you would like to see one of these Special Topics courses offered in the near future.
