CAS 083 - Communication and Infectious Disease

This course will introduce students to communication concepts, theories, and research relevant to the experience, prevention, and management of infectious disease outbreaks, including epidemics and pandemics. Focus will be placed on the current pandemic, COVID-19.

Course Objectives

  1. Explore the history and science of infectious disease
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and application of communication theory and research to mitigation and prevention of infectious disease
  3. Improve critical thinking relevant to information about disease and public health
  4. Develop analytic, research, presentation, and writing skills
