Sister Joan Chittister, a Penn State distinguished alumna who received her doctoral degree in speech communications theory and is known for her advocacy for justice, peace and equality, especially for women around the world, in church and in society, will be on the University Park campus Oc. 14-15 for the Joan Chittister Symposium: Ancient Traditions, Contemporary Questions.

She will offer the concluding public presentation on Oct. 15, and Sister Simone Campbell, executive director of NETWORK and coordinator of "Nuns on the Bus," will offer the symposium's opening presentation Oct. 14. Both events will be at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center. (Unfortunately, video recording is not permitted at either event.)

All symposium events, which also include two individual lectures and four panel sessions in Foster Auditorium, Paterno Library, are open to the public.
