  • CAS 203: Interpersonal Communication
    • An introduction to interpersonal communication, including the properties of dyadic communication, identity management, relational development and de-escalation, and interpersonal influence.
  • CAS 403: Interpersonal Communication Theory and Research
    • Use of informative and persuasive techniques in dyads. Use of speech to influence people in semipublic and private settings.
  • CAS 404: Conflict Resolution and Negotiation
    • Elements, assumptions, and issues relevant to the conceptualization, development, and management of conflict negotiation, and third-party intervention; communication emphasis.
    • Prerequisite: CAS 100.
  • CAS 405: Family Communication Theory and Research
  • CAS 455: Gender Roles in Communication
    • Gender-related communication in intimate, casual, and occupational situations. Creating and changing human relationships through interpersonal bargaining and public discourse.
    • Prerequisite: CAS 230.
  • CAS 470: Nonverbal Communication
    • Communication in nonverbal sign systems, such as gesture, posture, facial expression, eye movement, and apparel.
    • Prerequisites: 6 credits in Communication Arts and Sciences.
  • CAS 471: Intercultural Communication Theory and Research
    • Introduction to cross-cultural communication research and practice as applied within and across national boundaries, with emphasis upon the United States.
    • Prerequisite: CAS 100.
