In spring 09, Veena Raman taught CAS 497A - New Media and Democracy. This course had a study abroad component to it. Students traveled to Bangalore city, India (May 12-30) to study how information technologies impact everyday life and influence civic action in a large city in a developing country.
As part of the Global Engagement Node (GEN) strategy of Penn State, Dr.Michael Adewumi, Vice Provost for International Programs, has constituted a task force to help Penn State develop a strategic plan for India-related activities and programs. We, as co-chairs of this task force, are reaching out to the entire PSU community to get a better understanding of any current teaching, research, or service activities or programs in India that are already taking place, or are being planned.
