Travis Brisini is Performance Studies scholar who specializes in performance history and contemporary environmental aesthetics. His research focuses on nineteenth and early-twentieth century vernacular performances—medicine shows, Chautauqua, and the like—as well as the history of the Communication field. In his performance work, Travis examines the relationship between the natural world, philosophy and humanity; he is currently at work on a solo show about the bioregional Outsider artist Walter Inglis Anderson. Travis has published articles and scripts in a number of academic venues, and will be guest-editing an issue of Text and Performance Quarterly dedicated to “Posthuman Relations in Performance Studies.”
