Samantha LeVan’s research focuses on the dark side of interpersonal communication that cultivates in response to changes in both the individual and the relationship. She is particularly interested in individual risk, cumulative relational risk, and turbulence that arises from antisocial communication patterns, such as manipulation, emotion dysregulation, negative maintenance, and maladaptive dyadic coping. She has taught a variety of undergraduate courses, such as the dark side of close relationships, intro to human communication, interpersonal communication, persuasion (social influence), interpersonal and organizational communication, American literature, and public speaking (rhetorical and organizational).
