Biography:

Michael Broghammer is a graduate student in the Communication Arts and Sciences department from Sacramento, California who is studying how democratic deliberation and civic engagement may be inspired and facilitated in innovative and efficacious ways by new modern media and online digital technologies. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in English and Communication from Santa Clara University, and he is currently working toward obtaining his master’s degree in Communication Arts and Sciences at Penn State in the near future. He is currently teaching a section of CAS 100A this fall (Effective Speech: Public Speaking Emphasis, and he is currently a research collaborator with the Citizens’ Initiative Review Research Project, this year, which is currently developing a yearlong Citizens’ Initiative Review global study to be led by Dr. John Gastil in America, who is also his current temporary advisor at Penn State.
