CAS 483 - Communication and Information Technology II

This course provides students with an introduction to technology, web pages and uses of social media. Many of these enable individuals to create, collaborate, and share messages with a wide variety of audiences. Students will explore the possibilities and limitations of social media and will have hands-on experience with several forms of social media technology. Class discussions, presentations by students, readings, and invited speakers, will highlight new effective strategies and applications of these platforms. This course is involves active and independent learning and participation.

Course Objectives

  • To find and use communication techniques to improve networking
  • To understand and effectively use social media and various web design tools
  • To learn basic web page skills: HTML and CSS
  • To create a quality portfolio at the end of class
