RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AND INTERESTS:

My primary research and teaching interests include the history of rhetorical theory, rhetorical criticism, and the philosophy of rhetoric. I specialize in the early development of Greek rhetoric and philosophy, communication ethics, and rhetorical epistemology. Current research activities include a study of the role of speech and language in the transition from mythology to naturalistic cosmology in early Greek thought and an examination of the role of communication in the moral development of individuals and communities.

I currently serve as faculty advisor to Lambda Pi Eta, the undergraduate honors society and as one of the faculty directors of Penn State's education abroad program in Athens, Greece.
