Emotions
GOAL
The goal of this activity is to measure your sending and receiving skills. Look
at the list of emotions below. We are going to see how well you can communicate
these to others as well as how well you understand how others try to communicate
them to you.
ACTIVITY
Divide into groups of 5. Each will get a chance to be a sender and a receiver.
Create a chart like this one, inserting the names of members of your group:

One person goes first as a sender and picks 4 emotions. The sender then acts out each emotion without using words. Other group members acts as receivers and write down what they think the emotion is. When the sender has done all four emotions, the receivers are told the intended meanings and mark their responses correct and incorrect. Each receiver reports the total number of correct guesses the sender writes these down. The total of all the correct guesses is the sender=s sending score.
Another group member then
serves as the sender, choosing 4 emotions. You can only repeat one emotion.
This repeats until each group members has served as a sender. When everyone
has had a chance to serve as a sender, each person totals up the correct guesses
they made and this is their receiving score.
